What Garage Door Color Is Right for You?

Color Fandeck

You have some wonderful ways to improve the look and feel of your home and to create an appearance that will really get some positive attention from the neighbors. A nice new paint job or new siding on the home is a great way to start. New trim and some beautiful landscaping help as well. However, you do not want to forget one of the biggest and most important areas… your garage door. It’s one of the largest surfaces and more noticeable elements on your property, so you want it to look as nice as possible. The right color can go a long way in helping with this.

So Many Options

Just as with the color of your home, you have a near endless number of options when it comes to the color of the garage door. You could choose a color that matches your home perfectly so that the garage blends in nicely. You could choose a complementary color, or a color that adds some spark and personality to the door. It all depends on what you want and what your neighborhood wants. Always keep in mind any neighborhood rules and regulations before you choose a color. The last thing you need is to start showing off your great red door only to find out you are only allowed to have grey!

When you are choosing a color, it is a good idea to keep a few things in mind. First, you want to consider the other colors on your property right now. If you are going to be painting the entire house, you will have more options for the garage door, as it will be easier to balance them when you choose them simultaneously. Otherwise, look at the colors on the property now and try to find colors that will work well with them. A good option is to consider the trim on the home. If you have blue trim around the windows, for example, you might be able to have a garage door that utilizes the same color.

Garage door colors are available in nearly any option you could want. Some of the most common include ice white, black, charcoal, brown, heron blue, and dark sand. Some might even want to consider foregoing color completely and using the natural wood grain of a wood garage door instead. It can look just as nice, and it might work out better for your home.

What Else Makes a Garage Door Great?

In addition to choosing the right color, you should make sure that the rest of the door really matches your house style and the style of your property. For example, you may want to choose a garage door that has windows. Take the time to understand what you really want from your garage door, from the color and beyond, and then make sure it actually fits in well with the rest of your environment. A great looking garage door can enhance the curb appeal of your property, not to mention the value.
